The AquaIllumination Blade Refugium is a slim, programmable LED strip light designed specifically for refugiums and macroalgae growth. Its targeted horticultural spectrum combines red, blue, white, and 430nm output to support macroalgae growth and nutrient uptake in saltwater filtration systems.
The Blade Refugium is available in a 12-inch size and uses EdgeField optics for wide, even coverage. It includes integrated smart control through the Mobius app, with additional support for myAI and Neptune Systems Apex through an optional MXM module.

Refugium Spectrum
The Blade Refugium uses a targeted mix of red, blue, white, and 430nm LEDs designed to support macroalgae growth. The spectrum is intended for nutrient-consuming macroalgae used in saltwater refugium and biological filtration applications.

EdgeField Optics
EdgeField optics are designed to provide even PAR distribution, consistent color mixing and broad coverage across the illuminated refugium area. The optical system produces a 95-degree spread while maintaining efficient light distribution.
Refugium Applications
The Blade Refugium is designed for use over saltwater refugiums and sump compartments where macroalgae is used for biological filtration and nutrient export.
Its compact dimensions and targeted spectrum make it suitable for installations where dedicated refugium lighting is required without adding a larger fixture to the sump area.
Control and Compatibility
Blade Refugium includes integrated smart control and can be configured and programmed through the Mobius app on a compatible iOS or Android device. It is also compatible with the myAI app.
The Blade Refugium can be controlled through Neptune Systems Apex and Apex Fusion using a separately purchased MXM module and compatible Apex controller.
Mounting
The Blade Refugium includes the Low Profile Tank Rest. The tank rest can extend up to 4.5 inches on either side of the fixture, providing up to 9 inches of total adjustment.
Each Blade also includes an M8 mounting thread at each end for additional mounting configurations.
Optional Elevated Tank Mount and Hanging Kit solutions are available for installations requiring different mounting arrangements.
