Description
The EcoTech Marine Battery Backup is designed to keep compatible VorTech and Vectra pumps operating during a power interruption. Maintaining water movement during an outage helps support aquarium circulation and oxygen exchange until normal electrical service is restored.
The Battery Backup is compatible with all models and generations of EcoTech Marine VorTech propeller pumps and Vectra centrifugal pumps. Vectra pumps require a separately purchased Vectra Battery Backup Booster.

Backup Operation
When utility power is interrupted, a connected compatible pump automatically switches to power supplied by the Battery Backup. Available runtime varies based on the connected pump, the number of pumps, battery condition, pump settings and other operating factors.
EcoTech Marine states that a VorTech pump can continue operating for up to 60 hours when connected to one Battery Backup. Connecting two pumps provides up to 30 hours of operation. A second Battery Backup can be added to increase the available runtime.
VorTech Compatibility
The Battery Backup is compatible with all models and generations of EcoTech Marine VorTech propeller pumps. The Battery Backup connects to the pump controller using a fused Battery Backup cable.
During a power interruption, the VorTech controller automatically recognizes the Battery Backup connection and operates the pump using the available stored power.
Vectra Compatibility
The Battery Backup is compatible with all models and generations of EcoTech Marine Vectra centrifugal pumps. A separately purchased Vectra Battery Backup Booster is required between the Battery Backup and the Vectra controller.
Available Vectra runtime depends on the pump model, programmed backup settings, battery condition and other operating factors.
Installation and Maintenance
The Battery Backup should remain connected to its charging power supply during normal operation so the internal battery is maintained for use during a power interruption.
EcoTech Marine identifies a typical Battery Backup service life of approximately three to five years and recommends performing regular battery checks. Actual battery life and backup runtime vary based on age, operating conditions and connected equipment.
